We are currently recruiting for the position Manager of Entertainment Technical for Disney Cruise Line.

You will report to the Cruise Director and shore side Entertainment Production Manager with an average of 4 direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the administration of Technical Department, including Entertainment Maintenance Program
  • Provide leadership to technical staff regarding set-up, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of show equipment and procedures
  • Preparation and communication of technical schedules, rehearsals, events and department meetings
  • Create and process work orders, purchase requisitions, equipment inventories, show documentation, maintenance logs, technical documentation, cast member files, and all related paperwork
  • Maintain show integrity, standards of conduct, and quality levels as determined by DCL Entertainment
  • Maintain effective communication with Cast and Disney Cruise Line land-based Management Team
  • Schedule all support for Programming/Special events technical needs
  • Establish and maintain good relationship and two-way communication with all related departments
  • Partner with Marketing/Promotions in planning and execution of promotional activities and Special Events/Conventions
  • Facility maintenance, with regard to all technical systems, cueing, music/video library and product stock levels
  • Oversee and ensure smooth operation of band load in/out, sound and light checks and all show performances
  • Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and tracking of technicians’ certifications, safety training, and HR required classes
  • Follow and ensure all DCL safety standards and procedures
  • Solicit feedback from direct reports through one on one interaction
  • Facilitate department meetings
  • Provide leadership for all direct reports; Responsibilities include, but are
    not limited to:
    - Managing personnel files
    - Conducting performance reviews, including discipline as needed
    - Ensuring Project Onboard compliance
    - Monitoring STAR, while making necessary corrections
    - Onboard training, new hire and ongoing
    - Succession planning
    - Crew recognition and communication

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum five years experience in a technical role within a theatrical operation
    • Broad knowledge of Theatrical Scenic, Audio, Lighting, Lasers, Video, Show Control, Rigging and Effects Technology
    • Strong computer programming and operation
    • Ability to delegate authority and responsibility
    • Exceptionally well-organized, team oriented, and able to function well under pressure
    • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication, planning capability, and exceptional leadership skills
    • Possess strong problem solving and coordinating abilities
    • Understand job role of Entertainment Creative Management including show directors, project managers, choreographers, designers, etc.

    You must:

    • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel

    • Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
    • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
    • Complete a pre-employment medical
    • Obtain a criminal background check
    • Bring approved work shoes
