We are currently recruiting for the position of Costume Technician for Disney Cruise Line.

You will report to Senior Technician Costume.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of all Entertainment “show” costumes. Duties to include (but not limited to) hand and machine sewing, laundry, pressing, setting costumes for show, running dressing tracks and quick changes, upkeep of all dressing and costume storage spaces, striking and clearing at the end of the day to meet safety and show quality requirements set forth by the ship’s management
  • Responsible for working closely with the Sr. Costume Tech and Character Manager to ensure the integrity of the Disney Character costumes at all times; this includes upkeep of the Zoo’s (character dressing areas)
  • Maintain show integrity and quality of costume operations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years costuming experience in a theatrical environment required, be it college and / or professional theatre; Leadership roles a plus
  • Knowledge of costume construction and maintenance of theatrical costumes required, such as would be consistent with the function of the job; this includes a demonstrated knowledge of the handling and care of different kinds of fabrics
  • Computer literacy required, minimally Excel, Word, and the use of email
  • Dressing / quick change experience in theatrical productions, required
  • Familiarization with using a sewing machine, required - be it industrial or home machine
  • Knowledge of cosmetology or puppet construction or maintenance a plus

This is a shipboard role

You must:

  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations

Your Responsibilities:

  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes
